Westport Observation Tower

Climb for a 360° view over the marina and the Pacific

The tower stands over the Westport marina and it costs nothing to climb. From the top you get the whole working picture at once: the fishing fleet and charter boats in the basin below, the jetty and the harbor mouth to the north, and open Pacific to the west. Two things are worth timing. Gray whales pass offshore on their northbound migration in spring and again heading south in the fall, and this is the easiest free place in town to look for them. In winter the same view faces straight into the storms. It is stairs only, so it is not an accessible route, but the boardwalk underneath it is flat and paved. Ten minutes up and down is enough.
