See all Things to DoThe Ocosta settlers' burial ground
Ocosta was laid out in the late 1880s as a railroad town on the south shore of Grays Harbor, meant to be the terminus and the port. The railroad went to Aberdeen instead, and Ocosta stayed small. The cemetery holds the families who stayed anyway — farmers, oystermen, mill hands and their descendants. Names here turn up again on road signs and on the school district that still carries the Ocosta name. It is a quiet, well-kept country cemetery with harbor light coming through the trees. There is nothing to tour; it is a place to walk slowly and read.
