Westport Aquarium

A 1957 aquarium down by the docks

The Westport Aquarium was built in 1957 and it still feels its age in the good way. It is small, it is hands-on, and it is down in the marina district where the charter boats tie up. There is a touch station with sea stars and urchins in it. You can buy shrimp and feed the fish by hand, and there is a duck feeding area outside. With young children this is often the hour that rescues a wet afternoon. Hours are short and seasonal and it opens by appointment outside them, so make the phone call before you build a day around it.
