CRANBERRY HARVEST FESTIVAL COOK-OFF - Cook-Off Entries Needed Organizers of Grayland's Annual Cranberry Harvest Festival are looking for folks to enter their best cranberry dishes in the Cook-Off Competition.
There are two catagories: Professional and Novice. Ribbons will be awarded to the top finishers in several categories. The Grayland Community Hall is open only to receive cook-off entries from Noon - 9:00 pm on Friday Oct. 12th. Judging will take place at 9:00 pm Oct. 12th. No entries will be accepted on Saturday. SANTA BY THE SEA - Yo ho ho mateys! Tis the season to join the South Beach Buccaneers as they welcome Santa to the Westport Marina, 10:30 am the first Saturday of December. Delivered to shore by the US Coast Guard, he will be escorted to the Destruction Island Lighthouse Lens Exhibit Hall on the grounds of the Westport Maritime Museum by cheering children and the Westport Fire Department. You can visit Santa in the Lens Building; bring your camera and capture the fun. Next door at McCausland Hall, you can party with the Pirates, enjoy free refreshments, play "Walk the Plank" for prizes and shop at the Kids only store. call (253) 381-5989. RUN LIKE THE WIND FUN RUN - 5K RUN/WALK & 10K RUN - Start at the Westport Light State Park parking lot and go around the tallest lighthouse on the west coast and down our scenic dune trail while enjoying the nice ocean breezes and catching glimpses of entertaining coastal wildlife. For the most hearty among you, continue along the path by Half Moon Bay to the lookout tower in the marina district and then do it in reverse to enjoy it all from a different angle.
